From Fourteeners to Flight: Clark’s Tune M1 Adventure

Born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, it took just one trip to Colorado for Clark to fall in love with the state. That first visit came during a high school backpacking trip, when he hiked Mt. Elbert - his very first Fourteener, but certainly not his last. Since then, Clark developed a passion for adventure, embracing activities like off-roading, paragliding, mountain biking, and, of course, climbing Colorado’s fourteeners.

With a love for off-roading and a desire to spend more time outdoors, Clark began searching for a truck camper that could support his adventurous lifestyle. After hours of researching the many options on the market, he decided the smartest way to ultimately choose was to see products in person.

“I went to the Overland Mountain West Expo in Loveland, CO and got inside every single camper that was there. I tried all the mattresses, did the hatch doors, and just felt the build quality,” said Clark.

After experiencing each camper firsthand, Clark knew the Tune M1 was the best fit. Built with high-quality materials, it stood out as durable enough to handle the kind of off-road adventures he had planned.

“The quality of the materials is huge. It’s not flimsy at all. A lot of other campers on the market felt flimsy, and I couldn’t see myself wheeling them nearly as hard as I do with this thing,” Clark explained.

Nearly ready to commit, Clark watched just about every YouTube video published by Tune and other content creators. With his excitement at an all-time high, he reached out to someone selling a Tune M1 on Facebook Marketplace who turned out to be the admin of the Tune Owners Group.

Clark went to Tune for his camper swap and noted how quick and seamless the process, only taking one hour.

The swapping process is simple: Tune removes the camper, completes a 68-point inspection, addresses any needed repairs, and then reinstalls the camper on the new owner’s truck. The camper refresh itself is free; customers only pay for the labor and materials associated with the transfer.

Clark was pleased to learn that because he went to Tune for his install, the camper remained under warranty. Tune Outdoor campers include a three-year warranty for both materials and workmanship, as well as lifetime support from Tune.

“I don’t know how many campers, or products in general, you can buy secondhand on Facebook Marketplace and still receive the level of support and care that Tune provides,” said Clark.

Even though his Tune M1 is two and a half years old and number seven off the production line, Clark noted that the rig felt as if it were brand new, thanks to Tune’s revamp process.

Since getting the camper, Clark has especially enjoyed using it for paragliding trips. His journey into paragliding began as a way to fulfill a bucket-list item of his dad’s, hang gliding. While hang gliding schools are increasingly rare, the natural progression led him to discover paragliding. Luckily, Colorado offers plenty of paragliding schools.

“I used to be scared of heights for sure. It’s a little nerve-wracking your first couple of times, but once you’re up there and hit your first big thermal climb…it kind of just melts all those fears away,” said Clark.

Clark never travels alone. Joining him on the road is his German Shepherd–cattle dog mix, Otto.

“Being able to paraglide and put Otto in the camper, knowing he’s buttoned up, safe, and comfortable in a cool environment, was a huge factor in getting the camper,” Clark shared.

Clark loves how spacious the Tune M1 is, especially the roomy queen bed that comfortably fits both him and Otto. Now equipped with a durable truck camper built to withstand his overlanding pursuits, there’s no telling where his adventures will take him next.

“It’s kind of the ultimate adventure rig,” said Clark.
